With a past too terrible to speak of, and a bleak, lonely future ahead of her, Aerin Renning is shocked to find she has earned a place at the most exclusive school in the universe. Aerin excels at Academy 7 in all but debate, where Dane Madousin—son of one of the most powerful men in the Alliance— consistently outtalks her. Fortunately Aerin consistently outwits him at sparring. They are at the top of their class until Dane jeopardizes everything and Aerin is unintentionally dragged down with him. When the pair is given a joint punishment, an unexpected friendship—and romance—begins to form. But Dane and Aerin both harbor dangerous secrets, and the two are linked in ways neither of them could ever have imagined. . . .
I am seriously beginning to love Anne Osterlund, her writing is great, and her plots are even better!
Academy 7 is Osterlunds second novel which takes place in a futuristic world, but not like techno savvy or anything, just other planets and what not. Aerin and Dane are the main characters, each with a complete different back round but the same drive to succeed. Aerin is an escape slave , and Dane a privliged but abused son, both get accepted into the most elite academy in the universe. The story contues as they resolve their feelings for each other, overcome their pasts, and then uncover the greatest secret the alliance has. The only thing I would have liked to see more of is Aerin's backround.
Now don't start to think that this novel is all about the tortured past of Dane and Aerin, really it's about how they become friends, then more, and how they learn a huge secret that changes their lives forever.
Now I really did enjoy this book, there were a few minor things that I think could have been fixed but overall I practically couldn't put the book down. I definitely recommend it.
