On Solange’s sixteenth birthday, she is going to wake up dead. As if that’s not bad enough, she also has to outwit her seven overprotective older brothers, avoid the politics involved with being the only daughter born to an ancient vampire dynasty, and elude Kieran Black—agent of an anti-vampire league who is searching for his father’s killer and is intent on staking Solange and her entire family.

Luckily she has her own secret weapon—her human best friend Lucy—who is willing to defend Solange’s right to a normal life, whether she’s being smothered by her well-intentioned brothers or abducted by a power-hungry queen. Two unlikely alliances are formed in a race to save Solange’s eternal life—Lucy and Solange’s brother Nicholas, and Solange and Kieran Black—in a dual romance that is guaranteed to jump start any romance-lover’s heart.

Alright, so I indulged myself to another Vampire novel despite my reluctance after reading far too many. I had just heard a lot of good things about this one and the cover was intriguing... So
there you have it, I read the book.

Let me start off by saying that I loved the quick paced, enticing plot, and I loved, loved, loved, Lucy and her fiery character. For those reasons, and the adorableness of Nicholas, (Lucy's love interest) I read the book in one day.

So why the three stars?

The problem with this book was that since it was relatively short there wasn't a lot of time for the plot to develop, and besides Solange and Lucy I didn't really get a good feel of the other characters. Besides Logan and Nicholas (two of the seven brothers) the other brothers were all a blur to me. I felt as though the end was a bit rushed, and I was really confused about Nicholas's and Lucy's relationship. By that I mean Lucy claimed she had no feelings for Nicholas, even after he kissed her multiple times. What!?

Unfortunately this might be the last we see of the couples because the next book in the series will be focusing on Logan and Isabeau.

Don't get me wrong though, it was a good book and I did sincerely enjoy it. I would definitely pick it up to check out. If you liked this novel though, be sure to check out:

Evernight: Claudia Gray
The Summoning: Kelley Armstrong
Boys that Bite: Mari Mancusi
Sucks to be me: Kimberly Pauly
Demon Princess: Michelle Rowan

This sounds like it might work for me. So many series books now involve a huge cast of characters right from the start since they know there are more books in which to develop them.
