Three years ago, Sophie Mercer discovered that she was a witch. It's gotten her into a few scrapes. Her non-gifted mother has been as supportive as possible, consulting Sophie's estranged father--an elusive European warlock--only when necessary. But when Sophie attracts too much human attention for a prom-night spell gone horribly wrong, it's her dad who decides her punishment: exile to Hex Hall, an isolated reform school for wayward Prodigium, a.k.a. witches, faeries, and shapeshifters.

tagalong ghost, and a new roommate who happens to be the most hated person and only vampire on campus. Worse, Sophie soon learns that a mysterious predator has been attacking students, and her only friend is the number-one suspect.

As a series of blood-curdling mysteries starts to converge, Sophie prepares for the biggest threat of all: an ancient secret society determined to destroy all Prodigium, especially her.

I loved the story line of Hex Hall, it was an original and fun plot that drew me in from the first time I heard of it. The main character, Sophie, had a fun to read spunky personality, and her friend, Jenna is an out-of-the ordinary vampire that was refreshing to read about because of her differentness. The plot was constantly moving, with added twists and surprises that kept me captivated and turning the pages. I also enjoyed shocking ending and mystery that ran throughout the story. Most of all though, I loved the cover! Very original.

The writing was very similar, in my opinion, to Tera Lynn Childs, which I think of as fun and fresh which fits the story well. The one thing that bothered me a little bit was the relationship between Sophie and Archer (the love interest) I thought it was more tell than show. Besides this, however, and that there wasn't as much depth in the characters as I would have liked, I still enjoyed this story. Hex Hall is a great fast paced fantasy/ paranormal romance that is great for fans of fun supernatural stories with characters that make mistakes just like us, but also take chances, and maybe, find love.
